Still too early to say that militia controls Donetsk airport - DPR source

DONETSK/KYIV. Oct 3 (Interfax) - Armed clashes for control over the Donetsk airport continue, a spokesman for the Defense Ministry of the self-proclaimed Donetsk People's Republic (DPR) told Interfax on Friday morning.

"Fighting continues. Several buildings on the premises of the Donetsk airport are currently under our control. But it is too early to say that we are already controlling the entire airport," he said.

The DPR said on its Twitter account last night that "the army of Novorossiya gained control of Donetsk airport five months down the road."

Meanwhile, the press center of the army operation in eastern Ukraine said on its Facebook page on Friday morning that the Ukrainian army was controlling the Donetsk airport and had recently rotated its personnel and military hardware at the site.

Fighting for control over the Donetsk airport has been under way for several weeks.
