Kyiv expects results from Ukraine buffer zone delimitation mission

KYIV. Oct 4 (Interfax) - The Ukrainian National Security and Defense Council expects that the work currently being done by an international mission including representatives of Ukraine, Russia, and the OSCE to delimitate a buffer zone between the opposing parties in eastern Ukraine would bring about positive results soon.

National Security and Defense Council spokesman Andriy Lysenko said at a news conference on Saturday that, as the ceasefire agreements are not observed fully, the mission's work has been somewhat hampered. At the same time, the mission has already started work in the areas where there is no fighting, i.e. in Mariupol, he said.

"It is true that a joint group including representatives of the armed forces of Ukraine, the Russian Federation, and the OSCE has arrived in Mariupol. They are currently determining their routes and methods of work and are planning work on these territories," he said.

The mission members have been provided with everything they need for their accommodation and work, including office equipment, Lysenko said.

"We expect that results of their work will be available in the near future," he said.
