Two servicemen remain in serious condition after traffic accident in southern Russia
ROSTOV-ON-DON. Two contract servicemen, injured in a traffic accident in the Rostov region, are at the Millerovo central regional hospital in serious condition, sources in the regional emergencies service told Interfax.
"Sixteen injured servicemen, whose condition is serious but stable, have been moved to the district military hospital and two others remain at the Millerovo central regional hospital in very serious condition," the source said.
The Russian Defense Ministry said on Sunday morning that five servicemen were killed and 15 were injured and hospitalized.
A Ural and UAZ trucks carrying contract servicemen turned over after they collided with a MAN vehicle traveling in the same direction in the Tarasovsky district of the Rostov region at 3:31 a.m. on Sunday, a Defense Ministry spokesman earlier told Interfax.
All of the injured victims were moved to hospitals. They are being aided by highly professional doctors. Their lives are not in danger, he said.
The Defense Ministry told Interfax on Sunday evening that all of the injured servicemen had been airlifted to the Rostov military hospital where they are being treated by doctors from the Moscow Central Clinical Hospital.
A commission, led by the troops commander of the Southern Military District, is working at the scene, the Defense Ministry said.
