Seven militants dead at scene of police operation in Dagestan's Untsukul district

MOSCOW. Oct 6 (Interfax) - Seven militants were killed in a police operation in the town of Vremenny in the Untsukul district of Dagestan on October 2, a source in the law enforcement authorities told Interfax, quoting latest reports.

It was said earlier that the police had killed three militants.

"The bodies of seven militants were found under the house debris. They are being identified. DNA tests will be necessary as the bodies are charred. The removal of debris and the scene examination continue," the source said.

Interfax has yet to obtain an official confirmation of this report.

A group of militants was trapped in a house in Vremenny on October 2. They refused to surrender. An OMON serviceman was hurt in the storming of the house.
