KYIV. Oct 6 (Interfax) - Three civilians were killed and four injured during an artillery attack on Donetsk on Monday, the City Council said.

"October 6 was a busy day in Donetsk. Around 10 a.m. Kyivsky district came under one more artillery attack. Residential buildings No. 28 on Khrustalny Avenue and No. 180 on Stratonavtiv Street were completely destroyed by shells. As a result of the shelling, two civilians were killed and five injured. Later one of those died of his wounds in the hospital," the council said in a statement.

The council cited people from Petrovsky and Kyivsky districts as saying there had been a series of artillery shorts and explosions in the evening. Sporadic heavy gunfire was audible in many of the districts around 6:30 p.m.

However, the statement said, repair work was being done on the city's electricity grids. It said power supply had resumed for one of the water supply systems, which was currently being filled with water.
