Minister says 70% of Kazakhstan's residents are Internet users
ASTANA. Oct 7 (Interfax) - Seventy percent of people in Kazakhstan are Internet users, Investment and Development Minister Aset Isekeshev said.
"The government is working to improve the population's computer skills (...), the number of Internet users has reached 12 million or 70% of the entire population," he said at the Global e-Government Forum-2014 in Astana on Tuesday.
Digital television has 51% coverage and the indicator may grow to 72% by the end of this year and 95% in the next two years, the minister continued.
The e-government system is developing successfully, Isekeshev added.
"The e-government system gives citizens an access to 570 types of services. Each year the e-government system renders approximately 14 million services to the population. I believe it is a remarkable achievement in the country with a population of 17 million," he said.
