Russian diplomat, Iraqi ambassador discuss IS

MOSCOW. Oct 7 (Interfax) - The situation around the Islamic State, a terrorist group, was a subject of discussion at a meeting between Russian President's Special Representative for the Middle East and Deputy Foreign Minister Mikhail Bogdanov and Iraqi Ambassador to Russia Ismail Mohsen in Moscow.

Bogdanov met with Mohsen on Tuesday, the Russian Foreign Ministry said on its website.

"(The diplomats) exchanged their views on the pressing issues concerning further consolidation of the Russian-Iraqi bilateral relationship. They also discussed the current developments in the Middle East in light of the continuous armed activities by the IS terrorist group in Iraq and Syria," the ministry said.
