Ekho Moskvy director Pavlova quits
MOSCOW. Oct 7 (Interfax) - The Ekho Moskvy radio station is changing its general director; Yekaterina Pavlova is taking up an executive role at PMBC (Prof Media Broadcasting Corporation), a Gazprom Media spokesperson told Interfax on Tuesday.
"Ekho Moskvy's current general director Yekaterina Pavlova is moving to an executive position at PMBC which runs all radio stations of the Gazprom Media holding company," the spokesperson said.
The company would not say who will become the new general director or how soon. "There will be no further comment for now," the spokesperson said.
Pavlova was appointed as Ekho Moskvy General Director in February, thanks to the decision by the majority shareholder in Gazprom Media's radio station. Her predecessor, Yury Fedutinov, had held the post for over 20 years. At the time, the reshuffle caused a negative reaction from the Ekho Moskvy editor-in-chief, Alexei Venediktov, who called the move a political decision.
Later Venediktov told Interfax that Ekho Moskvy's minority shareholders would propose Fedutinov's candidacy for the post of the general director.
"At the meeting of the Ekho Moskvy shareholders on December 23, which, as far as I know, will focus on the appointment of a new general director, we, as minority shareholders, will put forward the candidacy of the station's former general director Yury Fedutinov for this job," said the editor-in-chief.
