Tbilisi to touch upon trade regime with Russia at Prague meeting

TBILISI. Oct 8 (Interfax) - Special Representative of the Georgian Prime Minister for Relations with Russia Zurab Abashidze and Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Grigory Karasin will speak about the Georgian-Russian trade regime at their meeting in Prague next week.

"Alongside the matters traditionally discussed between us in Prague, this time we would like to touch upon the trade regime between our countries. We should make it clear how our trade relations will develop in the future," Abashidze told reporters on Wednesday.

"As is known, we had formalized an association agreement with the European Union in a way that Russia did not create major impediments for us, but the Russian side said in July that a revision of the free trade regime with Georgia was possible," the premier's envoy said.

According to Abashidze, the upcoming meeting in Prague will also highlight transportation between Georgia and Russia and humanitarian affairs.
