Share of agricultural products in Customs Union trade turnover up to 14% in 3 years

MOSCOW. Oct 8 (Interfax) - The share of agricultural products and food in the total trade turnover of Customs Union countries for the last three years increased from 9.5% to 14%, the minister for trade of the Eurasian Economic Commission, Andrei Slepnev, said.

He said this at the second international investment forum "Agriculture and food market of the CIS: integration, investments and prospects" on Wednesday in the framework of the Golden Autumn agricultural exhibition.

He said that the trade of agricultural products is one of the drivers of trade between Customs Union countries. At the same time he said that the CIS market is going through difficult times. This is in large part due to the events in Ukraine and in Moldova and their movement towards association with the European Union.

According the Eurasian Economic Commission, in 2012, the growth of mutual trade of agricultural raw materials and products in the Customs Union amounted to 20% and in 2013 - 16.6%.

Belarus is the leader in the mutual supply of agricultural products. The share of agricultural raw materials and food in the goods structure of its exports to Customs Union countries amounts to 28%.
