Almost 50,000 refugees from Ukraine staying at Russian shelters - ministry
MOSCOW. Oct 10 (Interfax) - Over 48,000 Ukrainian refugees are staying at shelters in Russia, Emergency Situations Ministry spokesman Alexander Drobyshevsky told Interfax on Friday.
"Russia has deployed 931 shelters accommodating over 48,300 displaced persons from Ukraine, including more that 15,000 children," Drobyshevsky said.
He said the displaced persons had been provided with vital necessities and medical and psychological aid.
More than 190,000 persons, including 64,500 children and about 5,000 pregnant women, have required medical attendance, he said. A total of 9,500 refugees, including 3,600 children and about a thousand pregnant women, have been hospitalized.
"There are 2,000 persons with disabilities, including 302 children, amongst refugees from Ukraine," the ministry spokesman noted.
