Lukashenko calls on Ukrainian conflict parties to cease fire, observe Minsk protocol
MINSK. Oct 10 (Interfax) - Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko said in his address to the participants in the summit of the CIS Heads of State that military action in Ukraine is unacceptable.
"It's absolutely unacceptable that military action is being conducted here in central Europe. The conflict parties need to urgently stop the military action and observe Minsk agreements," Lukashenko said.
Lukashenko said that he personally and the heads of the other CIS countries have recently been concerned about security issues in the CIS.
"We should pay more attention to it in the CIS. I am confident that it is unacceptable when vital decisions on Ukraine are made somewhere far away, in Berlin or Milan. Why turn to us then?" Lukashenko said, recalling that Belarus has assumed a peacekeeping mission by offering to make Minsk a venue for negotiations on the peaceful settlement of the crisis in Ukraine.
"It's time to have a frank talk about the future of the CIS," Lukashenko said.
