Tajik president calls on CIS countries to fight against Islamic State together

MINSK. Oct 10 (Interfax) - Tajik President Emomali Rahmon has suggested that the heads of the CIS countries order their special services to increase their coordination to eliminate the threat coming from the terrorist organization Islamic State.

"We suggest that our special services and other relevant structures should be given specific instructions to closely coordinate their efforts to eliminate this threat, he said at the CIS summit, speaking about the situation with the Islamic State.

The president said the Islamic State poses a threat to global security, including the security of the CIS countries. "We are getting information that citizens from many CIS countries have been involved in the fighting for the establishment of the so-called Islamic caliphate, and the figures range from 100 to several thousands," he said.

In this regard, Rahmon suggested working together to prevent such situations.
