NSDC says ten Ukrainian servicemen freed in Donbas Thursday

KYIV. Oct 10 (Interfax) - Ten servicemen have been released in eastern Ukraine on Thursday within the peace plan's framework, the Ukrainian National Security and Defense Council (NSDC) said.

"Consistent with the peace plan, ten Ukrainian servicemen were freed yesterday," the NSDC tweeted on Friday. "One of the freed servicemen is an officer."

DPR POW Committee Chairperson Darya Morozova told Interfax on Thursday that the self-proclaimed republic's militia was preparing to release a number of injured Ukrainian servicemen on unilateral terms. "Indeed we are preparing for a unilateral transfer of several injured servicemen to Kyiv. This will happen within days," she said.

Morozova said the transfer of the injured Ukrainian servicemen to Kyiv would not be a part of the prisoner exchange format. "As to the prisoner exchange, it has yet to resume. This event lies outside the prisoner exchange format and does not imply a release of our supporters by Ukraine in return," she said.
