FMS: Over 215,000 Ukrainians ask Russia for asylum, refugee status
MOSCOW. Oct 14 (Interfax) - More than 200,000 Ukrainians have asked Russia for refugee status or temporary asylum since the beginning of the conflict in south-eastern Ukraine, Federal Migration Service (FMS) head Konstantin Romodanovsky told Interfax.
"As of now, over 215,000 citizens of Ukraine have filed refugee status or temporary asylum applications with the FMS. Affirmative answers have been given to 90% of the applicants," he said.
"In addition, over 100,000 citizens of Ukraine have requested temporary residence permits in Russia," Romodanovsky added.
