Putin to talk with Italian, German, Austrian, British leaders during visit to Milan - Kremlin aide

MOSCOW. Oct 15 (Interfax) - Russian President Vladimir Putin will hold bilateral meetings with Italian President Giorgio Napolitano, Italian Prime Minister Matteo Renzi, German Chancellor Angela Merkel, Austrian Chancellor Werner Faymann, and possibly British Prime Minister David Cameron during his upcoming visit to Milan, where he will be taking part in the Asia-Europe Meeting (ASEM) forum, Kremlin aide Yury Ushakov said.

"Upon arriving in Milan on October 16, Vladimir Putin will meet with Angela Merkel. They will have a bilateral conversation," Ushakov said at a news conference on Wednesday.

Putin will have a separate meeting with Italian President Napolitano the same day and with Italian Prime Minister Renzi the next day, after the summit session, he said.

"There is an agreement that both bilateral issues and international problems would be discussed in concrete terms. This will be Putin's first contact with Renzi," Ushakov said.

During the Milan events, Putin should also have a conversation with Austrian Chancellor Faymann, Ushakov said. This will be the second meeting between the two this year, considering Putin's visit to Austria in June.

Putin might also have a stand-up conversation with British Prime Minister Cameron, Ushakov said.

"Taking into account that he will take part in a joint breakfast, perhaps this would be enough, but maybe not. It is a common practice during such forums for leaders to retire to a separate room and have brief negotiations," he said.

"This hasn't been planned so far, but there has been a request from the Britons," he said.
