No Russian-German interstate consultations were planned in October - Russian diplomatic source

MOSCOW. Oct 15 (Interfax) - No Russian-German interstate consultations between the two leaders and government ministers were planned in October, but Moscow is interested in resuming this format provided that Berlin is prepared for this, a Russian Foreign Ministry source told Interfax on Wednesday.

"No Russian-German interstate consultations were planned this month. No practical preparations were held toward this. However, Russia is interested in resuming this useful bilateral mechanism when the German side is prepared for this," a Russian Foreign Ministry source told Interfax.

The Petersburg Dialogue (Petersburger Dialog), a Russian-German forum of civil society organizations, was planned for the end of October in Sochi, he said.

"I'd like to stress that interstate consultations have not always been held simultaneously with the forum. For instance, they did not coincide in time in 2005," he said.

A number of media outlets reported earlier that German Chancellor Angela Merkel had refused to take part in interstate consultations with Russia.
