Over 13 tonnes of drugs seized in Kyrgyzstan in January-September - Interior Ministry
BISHKEK. Oct 17 (Interfax) - More than 13 tonnes of different types of drugs were confiscated by Kyrgyz law enforcement agencies in January-September 2014, a spokesman for the country's Interior Ministry told Interfax on Friday.
"A total of 13.94 tonnes of drugs, psychotropic substances and precursors were confiscated over the first nine months of the year," he said.
The seized haul includes 143 kilograms of heroin, 46 kilograms of opium, 135 kilograms of hashish, 9.5 tonnes of marijuana, and two tonnes of precursors.
"Up to 1,543 crimes linked with the illicit drug trade were uncovered as well," the spokesman said.
