Russian grain inventories rise 27% to 44 mln tonnes on Oct 1 - Rosstat

MOSCOW. Sept 17 (Interfax) - Russia's grain reserves totaled 44 million tonnes on October 1, 26.6% more than on the same date last year, the Federal State Statistics Service (Rosstat) said.

Grain inventories at agricultural organizations, increased by 22.8% or 5.6 million tonnes to 29.8 million tonnes. Stocks at storage and processing enterprises rose by 35.1% or 3.7 million tonnes to 14.2 million tonnes.

In comparison with September 1, 2014, grain stocks increased by 11.6%, in particular at agricultural organizations - by 11.3% and at storage and processing enterprises - by 12.3%.

The figures due not include grain stocks at small enterprises.

Reserves of grain at storage and processing enterprises contained 9.9 million tonnes of wheat (food wheat - 7.06 million tonnes), which is 30.8% more year-on-year.

Rye stocks amounted to 764,000 tonnes on October 1, up from 756,000 tonnes on the same day last year, 27,000 tonnes of millet (compared with 14,000 tonnes on October 1, 2013), 687,000 tonnes of corn (322,000 tonnes), 2.369 million tonnes of barley (1.556 million tonnes), and 181,000 tonnes of oats (123,000 tonnes), 57,000 tonnes of buckwheat (53,000 tonnes), 111,000 tonnes of rice (45,000 tonnes) and other grain crops - 132,000 tonnes (95,000 tonnes).
