Gas contract main parameters agreement with Russia reached in Milan - Poroshenko

MILAN. Oct 17 (Interfax) - Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko said an agreement on the main parameters of the new gas contract for Ukraine was reached in the negotiations in Milan on Friday.

"We have some cautious progress on the gas issue. We have reached an agreement on the main parameters of the contract and the negotiations on the sources for covering the deficit of the funding needed to finance the contract are now nearing completion," Poroshenko told reporters after the negotiations in the "Normandy format."

Poroshenko said he is hoping big results can be achieved today. "I hope we will have more news after 5:00 p.m. today," he said.
