Belarus to launch serial production of long-range drones in 2015
MOSCOW. Oct 15 (Interfax-AVN) - Belarus is to launch the serial production of Grif-1 drones in 2015, Pavel Pinigin, deputy general director for development at Aircarft Repair Plant 558, told Interfax-AVN.
"Intensive preparations are under way for starting the serial production of Grif-1 drones. Serial production is to go on line in full before the end of the year," Pinigin said.
Grif-1, a drone with a twin-boom layout, has an internal combustion engine. Take off and landing is performed with the use of a catapult, or in a plane-like manner. The flight may be controlled from the ground, or proceed in accordance with a route planned in advance. It can fly in daylight and at night, and in different climatic conditions. It weighs 170 kilograms, and has a range of 100 kilometers, a maximum speed of up to 170 kilometers per hour and mission endurance of eight hours.
