Middle East intermediaries to gather in Brussels on Oct 24 - source
MOSCOW. Oct 20 (Interfax) - Special Representative of the Russian Foreign Minister for the Middle East Settlement Sergei Vershinin will take part in the October 24 meeting of the Middle East mediating quartet (Russia, the United States, the United Nations and the European Union) in Brussels.
"You are right; such a meeting will be held in Brussels on October 24. Special Representative of the Russian Minister for the Middle East Settlement Sergei Vershinin will take part in it," a source in the Russian Foreign Ministry told Interfax on Monday.
"The task remains unchanged: to create a political horizon resting upon an internationally recognized foundation in the Palestinian-Israeli peace process," he said.
"This is even more important now because there have been no contacts on the Palestinian track lately and this is bad for the situation in the region," the source said.
