Russia trying to persuade U.S to lift trade embargo on Cuba - Lavrov
MOSCOW. Oct 20 (Interfax) - Moscow has so far been unable to persuade Washington to lift its trade and economic embargo from Cuba, said Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov.
"Never in our contacts with the Americans have they touched upon the subject of Cuba. We touched upon it, we do so regularly, trying to persuade them, so far in vain, that the unilateral trade embargo on Cuba is absolutely pointless," Lavrov said at an open lecture as part of the United Russia Party's Civil University Project.
The embargo hurts America because a lot of foreign investors come to Cuba, he said. There are no anti-American sentiments in Cuba and this country is ready for cooperation, ready to address all issues with the U.S. on a fair basis, Lavrov said.
