Child seized from Russian mother in Turkey returns to Russia
MOSCOW. Oct 22 (Interfax) - A child from Chelyabinsk, who was taken from his mother a year ago in Turkey, who had been accused of cruelty, has returned to Russia, Russian children's rights ombudsman Pavel Astakhov said.
"We were able to return the 1.5-year-old David, who was taken from his mother in a hotel in Antalya on charges of cruel treatment after almost a year," Astakhov said on Twitter on Wednesday.
Astakhov said the baby is currently in a children's shelter in Antalya and Russian consular officials have access to him.
"We cannot ignore situations when our children are seized abroad. A dangerous practice of encroachments on the rights of Russian citizens is being created," Astakhov said.
