Investigative Committee: Vnukovo Airport employees' arrests due to uncooperativeness

MOSCOW. Oct 23 (Interfax) - The reason for the arrest of employees at Moscow's Vnukovo Airport in connection with Monday's air crash that killed Total chief executive Christophe de Marjerie was that they had refused to present themselves for questioning voluntarily, the Committee's chief spokesman said on Thursday.

"I can say that it had initially been suggested to the suspects that they voluntarily arrive at the Russian Investigative Committee for investigations. The investigators were willing to provide them with transportation for this purpose, but for some reason the airport employees refused," Vladimir Markin told Interfax.

Consequently, the Committee sent detectives to Vnukovo to detain and question the suspects, he said.
