Miller, Polish ambassador discuss Russian gas supplies to EU
MOSCOW. Oct 23 (Interfax) - Gazprom CEO Alexei Miller and Polish Ambassador to Russia Katarzyna Pelczynska-Nalecz have discussed current issues in supplies of Russian gas to EU consumers, Gazprom said in a statement.
They discussed the main issues of bilateral cooperation in gas, notably deliveries of Russian gas to Poland and its transit on the Polish segment of the Yamal-Europe gas pipeline. The meeting also touched on the subject of the fall-winter season in Russia, due to the frosty weather that gripped the entire European part of Russia in mid-October, resulting in record gas volumes delivered to domestic consumers on the Unified Gas Supply System.
Gazprom exported 9.8 billion cubic meters (bcm) of gas to Poland in 2013. The existing contracts on Russian gas deliveries to Poland and gas transit through Poland are in force until 2022 and 2019 respectively.
The 2,000-km Yamal-Europe pipeline has design capacity to ship 32.9 bcm of gas a year. It delivers gas to Germany via Belarus and Poland. The Polish segment of the pipeline belongs to EuRoPol Gaz SA, a joint venture between Gazprom, Polish national energy company PGNiG SA and another Polish company, Gas-Trading S.A.
