Elections must be held in DPR, LPR - Ivanov
SOCHI. Oct 23 (Interfax) - The chief of the Russian presidential administration, Sergei Ivanov, thinks the self-proclaimed Donetsk and Luhansk People's Republics (DPR and LPR, respectively) must have their own elected leaders.
"As regards elections in the LPR and DPR: firstly, I don't know when the elections will be there but I was aware from the very start that they will be interpreted by the sides completely differently. This is inevitable. So, to say that these elections - and in my view, they are needed because these new entities, new territories, call them as you like, but they must have some elected leaders elected by the people who live in these entities," Ivanov told reporters on the sidelines of the Valdai International Discussion Club in Sochi on Thursday.
