Russia will not pay for gas supplied to Ukraine - Ivanov
SOCHI, Krasnaya Polyana. Oct 23 (Interfax) - Russia will no longer pay for natural gas supplies to Ukraine but it does not mind another country doing so, said Sergei Ivanov, the head of the Russian presidential administration.
"We are not against (it)," Ivanov told reporters, when asked whether Russia will be against the United States or the European Union paying for its gas supplies to Ukraine.
He added: "We against us doing so. We won't do it. We don't care who'll be doing that."
"I'd be more worried about where the money is. Are you going to pay for gas or freeze? In my view, this is more important for an overwhelming majority of people in Ukraine," Ivanov said.
Russia should not pay for Ukraine's insolvency, he said. "Over the past 20 years we have sponsored Ukraine's economy with hundreds of billions of dollars," he said.
