Russia won't seek self-isolation from outer world - Putin

SOCHI. Oct 24 (Interfax) - Russia will not seek to isolate itself from the outer world, despite attempts to push it into doing so, Russian President Vladimir Putin said.

"There have been attempts to do us harm and block our development through sanctions, push us into self-isolation in politics, economy, and culture, that is, into backwardness," Putin said at a conference of the Valdai International Discussion Club on Friday.

"But the world has changed radically, and we are not going to shut ourselves out from it and choose a way of enclosed development, a way of autarchy," he said.
