Putin: Politically motivated sanctions are a mistake detrimental to all
SOCHI. Oct 24 (Interfax) - Russia does not feel offended by economic sanctions imposed on it by Western countries, which are politically motivated, and is not going to beg the West for lenience, Russian President Vladimir Putin said.
"I've believed and continue to believe that the politically motivated sanctions have been a mistake, which is detrimental to everyone," Putin said at the Valdai International Discussion Club in Sochi on Friday.
"We understand how these decisions were made and under pressure from who. At the same time, Russia won't pretend to be hurt and beg something of someone. Russia is a self-sufficient country," the president said.
"We will act more resolutely in conducting transformations, and, as it's happened more than once, pressure from the outside only consolidates our society, keeps us from relaxing, and makes us concentrate on the key avenues of our development," Putin said.
