Putin: World can slip into anarchy unless system of mutual obligations is reshaped
SOCHI. Oct 24 (Interfax) - Russian President Vladimir Putin worries that "anarchy" could settle in international affairs unless "a coherent system of mutual obligations" is reestablished.
"What is facing us if we prefer to live not by the rules, however strict and inconvenient they might be, but without any rules at all? As a matter of fact, such a scenario is quite possible, and it cannot be ruled out, considering how heated the situation in the world has become," Putin said at a forum of the Valdai International Discussion Club in Sochi on Friday.
"Seeing today's trends, a number of forecasts can be made, and unfortunately they are not optimistic," he said.
"Unless we set up a coherent system of mutual obligations and understandings and unless we build mechanisms for resolving critical situations, the signs of world anarchy will inevitably be looming large," he said.
