Two criminal cases opened into election abuses in Kirovohrad

KYIV. Oct 26 (Interfax) - Two criminal cases have been started in Kirovohrad on counts of violating elections procedures, the regional police department reported.

The two criminal inquiries were opened after a car carrying reporters and parliamentary deputies was smashed, and a list of voters who had cast their votes already was seized, the police said.

The Kyiv regional police documented 25 violations of the election legislation on Sunday, and about 20 election irregularities were reported in the Dnipropetrovsk region, the Ukrainian Interior Ministry said on its website.

The Kyiv police have received 25 reports about irregularities in the election law. Two administrative protocols were drawn up.

The most common election abuses are illegal canvassing, the presence of suspicious people at polling stations and illegal withdrawal of ballot papers from polling stations.

Twenty thousand invalid ballot papers were found at a polling station in the Dnipropetrosvk region. In two instances ballot papers were spoiled in two districts of the Dnipropetrovsk region.

The police said that canvassing continued via SMS messages and leaflets.
