Lawyers appeal snowplow driver arrest in Vnukovo air crash inquiry

MOSCOW. Oct 27 (Interfax) - The defense team for Vladimir Martynenko, the driver of a snowplow with which a French Falcon business jet collided in the Vnukovo airport causing four fatalities, has appealed his arrest.

"We have lodged an appeal against the Basmanny Court judgment because we think it is unfounded," lawyer Alexander Karabanov said on Monday.

The Falcon hit the snowplow on the Vnukovo runway in the early hours of October 21. The crash killed four people aboard, among them French oil company Total CEO Christophe de Margerie.

On October 23 the Moscow Basmanny District Court put Martynenko under arrest until December 21. The defense said they would appeal the arrest.
