Transneft stops pumping oil via Tikhoretsk-Novorossiysk due to weather at port

MOSCOW. Oct 27 (Interfax) - Transneft stopped pumping oil on October 27 via the Tikhoretsk-Novorossiysk oil pipeline since crude is not being loaded on tankers at the port due to unfavorable weather conditions, Igor Demin, aide to the pipeline monopoly's president, told Interfax.

He said that at present in Novorossiysk there is a difficult situation, wind has strengthened to 25 meters per second. "Since Friday there has been a storm. Unloading at the port has not happened since Friday. The tank farm is completely full," he said.

Demin said that large tank farms at Tikhoretsk and higher up the system allows for the storage of raw materials.

"Forecasters are promising improved weather tomorrow after lunch," he said.

In addition, Demin said that at the port of Kozmino, the end point of the Eastern Siberian-Pacific Ocean pipeline system, there will also be stormy weather on Monday. "But the storage is enough, so there are no problems," he said.

He said that at Baltic ports there has been a pre-storm warning, and that at 1:00 pm information is expected about the possibility of continuing unloading.

"We are only working at Makhachkala," Demin said.
