Belarusian population growing with migrants

MINSK. Oct 28 (Interfax) - The Belarusian population had reached 9,475,100 people by October 1, 2014, a growth by 6,929 since the beginning of this year, says a report posted by the National Statistic Committee.

Natural decline in the population decreased 75.3% year-on-year in January-September 2014 to 1,545 people, the report said.

"Migration stood at 8,474 people in January-September 2014, it grew by 605 people or 7.7% since the corresponding period of last year," the committee said.

During that period, 15,084 people arrived in Belarus and 6,610 moved to other countries.

Earlier, the committee quoted Belarusian Prime Minister Mikhail Myasnikovich as saying that the republic had taken in 46,000 Ukrainian refugees and issued work permits to 15,000 of them.

Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko signed an order at the beginning of September to facilitate the employment of Ukrainian citizens arriving in Belarus and the attendance of schools and kindergartens by their children.
