People's Front seeks Ukrainian premiership - Yatsenyuk

KYIV. Oct 29 (Interfax) - As the leading party in the Ukrainian parliamentary elections, People's Front has initiated the creation of a coalition and nominated a prime ministerial candidate, said Arseniy Yatsenyuk, one of the party leaders.

"In accordance with European practice, the party which came first in the elections must start the process of forming a coalition. I have announced the principles for forming a coalition. If a coalition is formed under these principles, the party leader will head the government. If no coalition is formed under these principles, then it is absolutely normal that another party will take upon itself the process of forming a coalition. And then the country will have a different prime minister," Yatsenyuk told a press conference in Kyiv on Wednesday.

"We received the first place in the elections," the prime minister said. He also recalled that the prime minister may nominate ministerial candidates.

The results of 98.21% of the election protocols processed by the Ukrainian Central Election Commission showed 22.16% of the voters favoring People's Front and 21.82% Petro Poroshenko Bloc (a margin of 52,900 votes).

At the same time, it is already known that Poroshenko Bloc's faction in the eighth parliament will be largely 'frontline' due to its overwhelming victory in single-mandate constituencies.
