Khodorkovsky, Navalny consider establishing prizes for people hurt by law enforcement system

MOSCOW. Oct 31 (Interfax) - Former Yukos CEO Mikhail Khodorkovsky and opposition activist Alexei Navalny intend to establish prizes for people who, the opinion of human rights activists, have been illegally prosecuted in Russia.

"We have recently reached an agreement with Alexei Navalny to establish fifty prizes, 100,000 rubles each, for next year for people who have been hurt by our law enforcement system but nevertheless continue fighting against arbitrariness," Khodorkovsky told an online conference on the website of the project Open Russia on Wednesday.

Khodorkovsky said he and Navalny can help human rights activists select the candidates for these prizes. "We will discuss how to select these people, how to understand that a person who is in prison is a political prisoner and continues fighting against arbitrariness," he said.

Khodorkovsky suggested organizing a debate on the Internet, saying that people who want to provide financial assistance to the project should contact Open Russia or Navalny.
