Georgian PM dismisses all deputies to defense minister
TBILISI. Nov 5 (Interfax) - Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili has dismissed all five deputies to the defense minister.
A decree dismissing the officials was posted on the Georgian government's official website on Wednesday.
Garibashvili dismissed Defense Minister Irakli Alasania on Tuesday after the latter had publicly criticized the Chief Prosecutor's Office for investigating corruption in the ministry.
Georgian Foreign Minister Maia Panjikidze and all of her deputies resigned to express solidarity with Alasania earlier on Wednesday.
State Minister for European and Euro-Atlantic Integration Alexi Petriashvili has also tendered his resignation.
Garibashvili introduced Mindia Janelidze as new defense minister on Wednesday. It is so far unknown who will be appointed foreign minister and state minister for European and Euro-Atlantic integration.
