CSTO Sec Gen: Worldwide antiterrorism coalition ceases to exist

MOSCOW. Nov 7 (Interfax-AVN) - The conduct of certain countries has led to the breakup of the global antiterrorism coalition and the appearance of better organized terrorist organizations, Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO) Secretary General Nikolai Bordyuzha told reporters on Friday.

"The emergence of close-knit and well-coordinated organizations, terrorist groups is a result of the actual breakup of the antiterrorism coalition caused by the moves of certain countries," Bordyuzha said.

The joint efforts taken after the 9/11 terrorist attacks are now bygones, he stated.

"Personal ambitions of certain leaders and group interests prevail," he added.

"Therefore, the antiterrorism coalition has ceased to exist because of the lack of connection to NATO and the United States," Bordyuzha said.

Terrorist organizations are flourishing against this backdrop, he said.

"We will pass this information to the president at the December 23 meeting of the Collective Security Council," he said.

Thousands of Europeans are receiving military training in Syria and Iraq and hundreds of people from CSTO countries are being trained at militant camps either in Afghanistan or in Syria, Bordyuzha noted.

"We are concerned about that; these people will return and try to establish their own rules with weapons in their hands," Bordyuzha concluded.
