Azeri blogger detained for trying to leave Azerbaijan

BAKU. Nov 10 (Interfax) -Azeri law enforcement officials detained blogger Mekhman Guseinov at Baku airport on Monday morning. The blogger was trying to leave for Tbilisi.

"The detention was made in connection with a criminal case opened against Mekhman Guseinov based on Article 221 (hooliganism) of the Azeri Criminal Code," Ekhsan Zakhidov, an official with the Azeri Interior Ministry press service, told Interfax.

Zakhidov said the criminal case against the blogger was opened in 2012 and he was then banned from leaving Azerbaijan.
