Russian seaports handle 6% more cargo in Jan-Oct
MOSCOW. Nov 10 (Interfax) - Russian seaports handled 518.5 million tonnes of cargo in January-October 2014, 6% more than in the same period of 2013, the Association of Commercial Seaports (ASOP) said in a statement.
Dry cargo handling increased 13.3% to 239.9 million tonnes, including 97.2 million tonnes of coal, up 14.7%, 39.1 million tonnes of container cargo (+5.8%), 19.4 million tonnes of ferrous metals (+6%), 25.5 million tonnes of grain (+80%), 12.4 million tonnes of mineral fertilizers (+16.5%), 6.8 million tonnes of cargo on ferries (+24.5%) and 3.9 million tonnes of scrap metal (+33.3%), 4 million tonnes of timber (+7.2%). Loading of metal ores fell 14.6% to 5.3 million tonnes, while loading of non-ferrous metals declined 15.7% to 2.7 million tonnes.
Tanker cargo totaled 278.6 million tonnes, which is 0.5% more than last year, including crude oil - 158.5 million tonnes, down 8.4%, petroleum products - 107 million tonnes, up 15.1%, and liquefied gas - 10.1 million tonnes, up 12.2%.
Ports handled 411.9 million tonnes of export freight, up 7.9% year-on-year, 36.5 million tonnes of import freight, down 5.2%, 39.7 million tonnes of transit freight, up 2.3%, and 30.4 million tonnes of coastal freight, up 2.1%.
