APEC countries to exchange air transportation security practices
BEIJING. Nov 11 (Interfax) - The Asia Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) leaders have agreed to bolster air transportation security and to promote the effective operation of maritime transport.
An appendix to the APEC summit declaration published in Beijing says the leaders will pool their efforts in the solution of tasks deriving from the growing significance of air transportation for broader trade and humanitarian contacts and share their experience and best available practices for the sake of higher effectiveness and security of air transportation.
The leaders pledged to promote conditions for the effective operation of maritime transport and shipping services and said they would bear in mind the fact that most projects developing maritime transport infrastructure were being implemented on a unilateral basis.
The leaders took into account a number of pilot initiatives cooperation in which could have tangible results.
In the field of transportation and logistics, the leaders agreed to promote the joint solution of problems in simplifying trade conditions, holding structural and regulatory reforms and lowering administrative barriers.
They set the task of modernizing customs and border services and demonstrating an integrated approach towards the elaboration of normative acts, including coordination between state regulatory agencies, standardization and trade.
