Georgia to preserve course toward Euro-Atlantic integration - prime minister, foreign minister
TBILISI. Nov 11 (Interfax) - Georgia's foreign political course remains unchanged, Prime Minister Irakly Garibashvili and new Foreign Minister Tamar Beruchashvili have said.
Georgia's European choice is a course chosen by the Georgian people, and the government will not digress from it, Garibashvili said while introducing Beruchashvili as new foreign minister on Tuesday.
Beruchashvili, who earlier served as a deputy foreign minister, is a qualified specialist and an experienced diplomat, who is well aware of the government's goals and the challenges facing Georgia, Garibashvili said at a news briefing.
"I am sure, Tamar Beruchashvili will be a successful minister," he said.
Beruchashvili also said at this briefing that Georgia's course toward Euro-Atlantic integration is "unchangeable" and that she is determined to do all she can to make sure that Georgia's diplomacy is successful.
Beruchashvili resigned recently along with previous Foreign Minister Maia Panjikidze but later changed her mind and returned to the ministry.
