Kia may lower car sales in Russia by 5% in 2014

KALININGRAD. Nov 13 (Interfax) - Kia is expecting to sell around 188,000 automobiles in Russia in 2014, Kia Motors Rus Managing Director Artyom Gusarov told journalists in Kaliningrad on Wednesday.

In 2013, the company sold 198,018 cars in Russia, meaning this year's sales might fall 5%.

Gusarov said around 50% of the automobiles sold in 2014 were from Avtotor's Kaliningrad plant.

He said it was difficult to give a forecast for sales in 2015, noting that this figure would depend on demand.

On August 15 2011, Hyundai Motor began producing the Kia Rio sedan at the Hyundai Motor plant in St. Petersburg. In addition, a number of Kia models are assembled at an Avtotor plant in Kaliningrad.
