Moscow has questions about TENAM Corp head Mikerin's arrest in U.S. - Russian Foreign Ministry
MOSCOW. Nov 13 (Interfax) - Moscow has serious questions about circumstances surrounding the arrest of Russian citizen Vadim Mikerin, the head of the TENAM Corp, which is the U.S. subsidiary of Russia's state-owned uranium producer and trader Techsnabexport, in the United States, the Russian Foreign Ministry said on Thursday.
"We have serious questions about both the circumstances of this Russian citizen's arrest and the actions of American special services and law enforcement agencies, which once again failed to use the mechanisms of the 1999 bilateral Treaty on Legal Assistance in Criminal Cases in the context of the charges filed [against Mikerin]," the Russian ministry's envoy for human rights, democracy and the rule of law, Konstantin Dolgov, said in a commentary.
