No-fly zone over Nagorny Karabakh has existed for many years - Nagorny Karabakh Republic

YEREVAN. Nov 13 (Interfax) - Azerbaijan was not saying anything new when it declared a no-fly zone over Nagorny Karabakh, Dmitry Adbashyan, the head of the Main Civil Aviation Department of the Nagorny Karabakh Republic, has told Interfax.

"It was declared back in the Karabakh war, they weren't saying anything new. This status has existed for many years," Adbashyan said.

"This territory is marked as a no-fly zone on all international flight maps," he said.

"I am only speaking about civil aviation," Adbashyan said.

The helicopter was shot down by the Azeri military in the Nagorny Karabakh conflict zone during a training flight on November 12. All members of the helicopter crew were killed.
