German FM to visit Moscow on November 18

MOSCOW. Nov 13 (Interfax) - German Foreign Minister Frank-Walter Steinmeier will come to Moscow on November 18 to negotiate with his Russian counterpart Sergei Lavrov, Russian Foreign Ministry spokesman Alexander Lukashevich said on Thursday.

"We are expecting a visit by German Foreign Minister Steinmeier for negotiations with Sergei Lavrov on November 18," he said at a press briefing in Moscow.

The two sides "will continue to exchange opinions on the situation in and around Ukraine, prospects for resolving [this conflict] with international support and additional measures aimed at the soonest possible end to the bloodshed and the provision for the vital needs of the southeastern regions of the country, especially in the context of the approaching winter season," Lukashevich said.

"A discussion of Russia's relations with the European Union and problems of renovation of the European security architecture is also planned," he said.

Kommersant wrote on Wednesday that the German foreign minister may visit Kyiv before going to Moscow.
