Lavrov to visit Minsk early next week
MOSCOW. Nov 13 (Interfax) - Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov is due to visit Minsk on November 17-18 to take part in a planned joint meeting of the top tiers of the two countries' foreign ministries, the Russian ministry's chief spokesman said on Thursday.
Lavrov will also have talks with his Belarusian counterpart, Vladimir Makei, during his visit, Alexander Lukashevich told a briefing in Moscow. "We expect that this traditionally constructive and frank exchange of opinions will make it possible to go through a wide range of problems and outline some joint ways of solving them," Lukashevich said.
On November 19, Lavrov would speak to State Duma deputies during question time. "International problems and Russian foreign policy priorities will be given consideration. After an introductory speech, the minister will answer numerous questions from deputies," Lukashevich said.
On November 22, Lavrov will meet with political scientists and members of the Foreign and Defense Policy Council. "This year's subject is 'A Picture of the Future: A Strategy for Russia,'" the spokesman said.
