Detectives say restrictive measure on Yevtushenkov cannot be changed
MOSCOW. Nov 14 (Interfax) - The investigative bodies have requested a longer period of house arrest for AFK Sistema head Vladimir Yevtushenkov.
A representative of the Russian Investigative Committee told the court on Friday that the detectives had asked for a six-month extension to the house arrest, through to March 16, 2014, and to the previous bans on unauthorized exit, communication with anyone besides family members and the defense team, and use of postal and telegraph services.
He explained the request on the basis of the position held by Yevtushenkov.
"The defendant may try to destroy evidence or pressure witnesses and other participants in the procedure. Bearing in mind these circumstances and the real capability of Yevtushenkov to leave Russia, detectives think it is impossible to alter the restrictive measure," the committee representative noted.
