West should promote dialogue between Kyiv, Donbas - Lavrov
MOSCOW. Nov 19 (Interfax) - Moscow is calling on the West to help establish a stable dialogue between Kyiv and representatives of the self-proclaimed Luhansk and Donetsk people's republics, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said.
"As the next step, we are calling for the establishment of stable contacts between Kyiv and Donbas representatives with the aim of reaching mutually acceptable agreements. The West should support this process rather than seeking to support anything that the 'war party' in Kyiv is doing and turning a blind eye to glaring human rights violations, open lawlessness, and war crimes," Lavrov said in a report at the State Duma on Wednesday.
"There are no prospects in pressing on Russia in the context of the crisis in Ukraine," he said.
"Since the beginning of the Ukrainian crisis, Russia has consistently sought to help Ukraine overcome this hard period in its history and achieve a durable peace and national accord on the country's future," he said.
